My philosophy is being sensitive to the emotional and social needs of the children who are under my care and be consistently responsive and solicitous to the needs of them, have interaction with them that demonstrates general warmth, caring and respect.  So that they will trust me as a secure base, grow as a competent and confident learner that will enhance them to develop a strong sense of self and in turn grow as a person with high positive self-esteem. In order to make the children more independent learners, I will constantly reflect on my plans, programmes, and on my own philosophy and pedagogy to make necessary changes to meet the needs of the children to further extend their learning and development.

I am so happy to have rejoined the Kaiako Team at Minnows as I taught here between 2013 and 2019.
I love to see children learning and growing and believe education should be about lifelong learning. The positive foundation for this is our goal as Early Childhood Teachers.
My special interests are in understanding learning within imaginative play, creating art projects in many different forms and environmental sustainability. I enjoy literacy and numeracy through books, storytelling, play/resources and music.

Kia ora, my name is Wenjun (Julia) Liu. With practical teaching experience across various age groups, I am passionate about supporting tamariki through play-based learning and daily routines. My teaching philosophy is deeply guided by Te Whāriki, focusing on whakamana (empowerment), whanaungatanga (relationships), and kotahitanga (holistic development).

I strive to create a calm, respectful, and inclusive environment where every child feels a strong sense of belonging and confidence.

I value open communication with whānau and love collaborating with a supportive teaching team.

I am thrilled to be part of this community and look forward to growing alongside your children!

I acknowledge parents as the “first educators” and strive to work together with them for the well-being of their precious trusts.

I foremost endeavour to express love, understanding and acceptance of children and then seek how to best nurture the talents and qualities latent within them as well as promoting
curiosity and creativity. I know the importance of being patient, encouraging and listening attentively to a child’s ideas and questions and guiding them to be caring, courteous, helpful, fair and to resolve their problems by communicating with each other.
